What is Tonometry? - Glaucoma Glossary
Tonometry is the standard diagnostic test that measures the fluid pressure inside your eye (intraocular pressure or IOP).
What it means for the patient
For patients, this is the "air puff" or blue light test done during routine eye exams. It helps determine if your eye pressure is in a safe range or elevated, which could indicate a risk for glaucoma.
Clinical significance
Elevated IOP is the primary modifiable risk factor in glaucoma. Accurate tonometry is critical for establishing a baseline, calculating target pressures, and assessing the efficacy of interventional therapies.
How it is tracked
IOP measurements are recorded and tracked continuously in the Glaucoma One analytics dashboard, mapped against your target pressure thresholds.
